Check Out Our Recent Kitchen Remodel

At Harbor Stone, we love all home renovation projects – from a smaller area make over to entire home remodels, and we give each project our full attention.

Here’s a look at one of our favorite recent kitchen remodels.

The homeowners of this older home wanted to create more spaciousness in their kitchen and have a larger kitchen to accommodate their large family.

Length of remodel, from start to finish, was 4 months, during which our kitchen contractors accomplished the following:

We inquired about the family’s wants, needs and vision, and learned that the homeowners like to cook, so having a large oven and cooktop, butcher block or similar surface to do food cutting and preparation, a farmhouse sink, and lots of lighting was paramount.

Since the kitchen certainly is a hub of our customer’s house, we wanted to enhance it to be much more functional, as well as visually appealing. So, we designed a hard-working hub within the kitchen, and created a lot of breezy space around it.

As far as the look and feel of the space, the homeowners expressed that they like clean look and soft colors.

White and grey marble design quartz countertops were installed, contrasted with trendy butcher block and dark soapstone. We created space to install a new farmhouse sink in white, and faucet to match the cabinet hardware. A charming backsplash alcove was built above the stove.

We installed fully automated lighting to tie into the existing system. This provided additional lighting that is perfect for the customers’ need, and enhanced the ambience with the built in cabinet lights, and under the bottom cabinet lights.

We built elegant arches leading into the dining noon and the kitchen; we added a bench/storage area by the window, topped by the solid wood to match the new flooring and the butcher block as part of the island.

As with any job, we came across a few challenges along the way. Existing ductwork was difficult to redirect and tie back in, so our solution was to lower the existing ceiling by 6” throughout, since it was already very high. Also, installing structural

supports challenging, and we remedied that by lowering the ceiling height.

As far as the flooring, we installed all new hardwood floors, a beautiful and classic choice, rustic style.

Old appliances were replaced with all new Wolf appliances, including wine cooler, ideal for gourmet cooking and entertaining.

The end result – a stunning, efficient, large kitchen with plenty of space.

Our team of home improvement and remodeling contractors are highly trained and experienced to take on any project, from total home overhaul to basement, decking, kitchen and bath, etc. – including any customization you may be envisioning to transform your space into your dream home.
